The main reason for our trip to the "Big Easy" was for the Sugar Bowl. And our beloved UTES WON!!! The two crazy ute fans in the picture with us is my brother Derek and his friend Travis. Derek is the one with the black U on his face.
The Alabama fans were very nice after the game giving us congrats.

LOOK! Real swamp hillbillies!

We took a swamp tour in New Oreleans also. We saw 6 alligators.

French Quarter. The last house that is hard to see is of the LaLaurie house. I have read so much about it and have always wanted to see it and of course we ended up seeing it in the rain. The history of this house is of a Doctor and his wife the Lalauries. While they were living there (early 1800's) the house caught on fire by one of the slaves and when the fire dept and police came they discovered many slaves in the attic that had been tortured and had weird experiments done on them. they said it was the most gruesome sight they had ever seen. They arrested the Doctor but his wife had escaped never to be seen again.
It was a eerie house. People are living in it right now too.

We went to New Orleans after Christmas with my whole family for the Sugar Bowl. We spent 5 days there. One of the days we took a city tour and one of the stops were at one of the cemeterys there. Very cool.

On the tour we also went to one of the devestating areas that Katrina hit. We couldn't beleive the damage it had caused. There were homes completely gone and many abandoned because of black mold damage. We could see the water marks from where the water had sat for weeks on the houses, street signs and buildings. These pictures are of some of the damaged homes. The nice blue house is one of the homes Brad Pitt had helped to build for the victims.
